A glove that boosts physical strength

The NASA is working with the U.S. carmaker General Motors to develop an accessory capable of increasing the strength of an individual. This is a glove for astronauts.

This glove assists the astronauts when they have to use heavy tools. It was baptized Human Grasp Assist Device and nicknamed Robo-Glove alias K-Glove by internal employees. Moreover, the accessory is equipped with pressure sensors at the tips of five fingers. For now, it weighs 1 kg but developers will try to lighten it for the final version. When the astronaut is holding a heavy tool, greatly improves the glove making. The individual has three times less pressure to maintain an object it right when he puts the glove. Thus it does not tire easily and will be much more productive.

Given its characteristics, one wonders whether this glove is more useful on Earth in zero gravity. As a reminder, NASA and GM have collaborated together for the project Robonaut 2.
